About The Position

Supports the Director to ensure the best possible learning experience for school-age children in a safe and secure environment while maintaining confidentiality. This role involves assisting in planning and organizing daily events, monitoring children on the playground, and communicating with the community, staff, and students.

Requirements

• Must be 16 years or older.
• Knowledge of school policies and safety regulations.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to be caring, understanding, and friendly towards students.
• Ability to relate to children with special needs.
• Ability to read and interpret school policies and handbook.
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and community.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk and hear.
• Occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds of files, materials, computer and audio visual equipment, etc.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, and ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with children’s groups and/or training in early childhood development or childcare.
• May be required to attend CPR/First Aid training.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and organizing daily events, which may include crafts, games, and stories.
• Monitor children on the playground.
• Communicate with community, staff, and students to answer questions and disseminate or explain information.
• Support the Director in providing a safe and secure environment for school-age children.
• Maintain confidentiality.
