About The Position

Koinonia Family Services is seeking a part-time child and family social worker to serve youth and families in their foster and adoption programs in the Fresno and Visalia area. This is a hybrid remote position, involving team meetings and office duties at the Fresno office, with remote work for other tasks. The role focuses on social work and case management for children in foster-adopt placement, providing support to resource parents, writing SAFE home study assessments, and offering ongoing case management and services, including post-adoption support. Strong Spanish language proficiency is desired for effective communication with a diverse client base. The position offers flexible hours and schedule, approximately 5-10 hours per week depending on caseload.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work (MSW)
  • Strong Spanish language proficiency
  • Experience writing SAFE home studies
  • Skilled in therapeutic modalities, assessments, and treatment planning
  • Experience in child welfare, juvenile justice, and crisis intervention
  • Strong commitment to cultural competency and ethical practices
  • Passion for ongoing professional development
  • Completion of a criminal background clearance through the California Department of Justice and FBI
  • Completion of a pre-employment physical and TB test
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in a social service setting, working with children and families
  • ACSW registration

Responsibilities

  • Provide social work and case management for up to 7 to 8 children in foster and foster-to-adopt placement
  • Conduct detailed intake and assessment of youth
  • Prepare home studies and assessments of families
  • Offer timely crisis intervention services, addressing mental health, behavioral issues, or other urgent needs
  • Manage each child’s case with record-keeping and care planning
  • Support biological families towards reunification, where appropriate
  • Collaborate with external agencies for comprehensive child care and support
  • Train and supervise foster parents to meet the children’s needs
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Participate in an on-call rotation with other team members
