About The Position

Prairie Ridge Integrated Behavioral Healthcare is a non-profit, Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic in northcentral Iowa dedicated to empowering individuals to live healthy, purpose-filled lives. They offer a continuum of services including outpatient psychiatry and counseling, residential substance use treatment, an Opioid Treatment Program, an intensive outpatient program (IOP), an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, and outreach clinics. Their vision is to engage individuals, families, and communities in personalized, whole-self care, focusing on strengths and goals rather than isolated diagnoses.

This role involves providing outpatient psychiatric care for adults with mental health and substance use challenges. The psychiatrist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including other psychiatrists, physicians, therapists, nurse practitioners, service navigators, nurses, and medical assistants. The position is primarily weekday outpatient with no evening, weekend, or on-call responsibilities, and offers the opportunity to extend care to rural and satellite locations via telemedicine.

Requirements

• M.D. or D.O. with board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry
• Iowa medical licensure (or eligibility to obtain)
• Valid DEA registration and National Provider Identifier (NPI)
• Confidence using telemedicine platforms
• A deep, genuine commitment to serving individuals with dignity, respect, and a belief in their potential

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans, including psychopharmacologic interventions.
• Provide ongoing medication management for outpatient and residential substance use patients, monitoring effectiveness and side effects.
• Offer psychoeducation to patients and families about their conditions, options, and available resources.
• Serve as a bridge between medical and behavioral health staff using evidence-based trauma-informed care.
• Consult with colleagues, case coordinators, and community partners.
• Contribute expertise to telemedicine policy and best practices.
• Participate in clinical consultation and other collaborative activities to support patient care.
• Maintain complete, accurate records in accordance with professional standards.
• Uphold all HIPAA and 42 CFR regulations governing patient confidentiality.
