Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist - Inpatient
About The Position
Sonora Behavioral Health Hospital, located in Tucson, AZ, provides short-term inpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment for children (ages 5-11), adolescents & teens (ages 12-17), and adults in crisis situations. The hospital employs a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, medical practitioners, master’s level social workers, registered nurses, dietitians, and behavioral health technicians. They specialize in treatment programs for mental health and chemical dependence concerns, offering comprehensive medical and psychological evaluations, medication management, regular contact with psychiatric providers, daily group therapy, and nursing care. The facility is seeking a Full-Time, Inpatient Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. This role is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses through personal counseling (psychotherapy), psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and/or medication.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO) required.
- Licensed in the state in which the facility(s) operate.
- Board certification in psychiatry
- Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions and per regulation within the state in which the practitioner will be working.

- One or more years’ post graduate degree practice preferred.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing clinical services to patients at the facility.
- Practice within medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations, as well as by corporate, facility policy or procedures.
- Review medical information on patients to ensure medical stability and to offer medical recommendations.
- Evaluate patients for mental, emotional or behavioral disorders.
- Treat or direct treatment of patients, utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
- Review and complete medical information for individual care plans, documents services and information in a timely manner.
- Maintain confidential documentation, compliance and billing in accordance with the policy and procedures.
Benefits
- Compensation Range: $275K-$300K per year with additional productivity, weekend, holiday and on-call compensation amounting to a potential of $600k+ in total compensation.
