About The Position

This position is for a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist in an inpatient setting at Brook Lane Hospital in Hagerstown, MD. The role involves working in a 38-bed Child & Adolescent Inpatient Program, which typically has an average census of 32 patients aged 8-17. The average length of stay for patients is 8-10 days, with common diagnoses including ADHD, depressive disorders, trauma, autism spectrum disorders, ODD, and adolescent substance use. Admissions primarily come from regional emergency departments. This is a 100% inpatient role with no outpatient clinic responsibilities. The psychiatrist will manage a caseload of approximately 16 patients and will have teaching opportunities with psychiatry residents, medical students, and NP and PA programs. The work schedule is a 7 on / 7 off rotation with 10-hour days. The psychiatrist will be part of a strong multidisciplinary behavioral health team and will participate in an on-call schedule, including one night per week, one in six weekends, and daytime coverage for ED referral screenings and urgent inpatient needs. Meritus Health and Brook Lane operate one of the largest behavioral health networks in the region, offering 80 inpatient beds, a psychiatry residency training program, residential crisis care, day treatment programs, and expanding outpatient and telehealth services.
