About The Position

This position is for a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist at Brook Lane Hospital, part of the Meritus Health and Brook Lane behavioral health network in Hagerstown, MD. It offers a competitive base salary, sign-on bonus, and relocation assistance. The role involves working a 7-on/7-off schedule with 10-hour days, focusing entirely on inpatient care with no clinic responsibilities. The program is a 38-bed Child & Adolescent Inpatient Program serving ages 8–17, with an average length of stay of 8–10 days and a manageable caseload of approximately 16 patients. Common diagnoses include ADHD, depressive disorders, trauma, autism spectrum disorders, ODD, and adolescent substance use. Admissions primarily come from regional emergency departments. The psychiatrist will work within a strong multidisciplinary behavioral health team and have teaching opportunities with psychiatry residents, medical students, NP, and PA programs. The system provides a comprehensive behavioral health network including inpatient beds, a psychiatry residency program, residential crisis care, day treatment programs, school-based mental health services, and expanding outpatient and telehealth services. Hagerstown offers easy access to Washington, DC and Baltimore, outdoor recreation, and a growing cultural scene.

Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of approximately 16 patients
Provide 100% inpatient care for children and adolescents aged 8-17
Participate in teaching opportunities with psychiatry residents, medical students, NP and PA programs
Provide daytime on-call coverage for ED referral screenings and urgent inpatient needs
Participate in a call schedule including 1 night per week and 1 in 6 weekends
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary behavioral health team
