About The Position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for driving operational excellence and ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality youth development programs across the organization. The COO leads strategy execution, oversees day-to-day operations, and ensures alignment between program outcomes, staff performance, and organizational goals to advance the mission of enabling all youth to reach their full potential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in nonprofit, youth development, or multi-site operations.
  • Proven experience managing large teams, budgets, and complex operations.
  • Strong strategic thinking, data analysis, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated success in program development, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Passion for youth development and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation and delivery of operations, programs, services, and activities that facilitate achievement of targeted Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality program delivery across all Club sites aligned with organizational standards and strategic priorities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the identification and evaluation of opportunities to improve program effectiveness based on participation data and achievement of stated goals.
  • Recommend and implement modifications to improve program performance, outcomes, and member experience.
  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to drive strategic initiatives and operationalize the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Support Board Committees, as assigned, by providing operational insight, data, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure alignment between board priorities and operational execution.
  • In conjunction with the Finance team, coordinate agency-wide budget development.
  • Monitor financial performance and explain variances in revenues and expenditures, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
  • Optimize resource allocation to maximize program impact and operational efficiency.
  • Manage administrative and operational processes across the organization.
  • Oversee the maintenance, safety, and repair of buildings, equipment, and facilities to ensure welcoming, safe environments for youth and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Manage performance of assigned staff in achieving goals, providing coaching and technical assistance in program design, development, community relations, and operations.
  • In partnership with the Human Resources Team, plan and implement comprehensive staff development and training programs.
  • Build leadership capacity across the organization to support succession planning and retention.
  • Develop and strengthen collaborative partnerships with youth-serving organizations, schools, families, community stakeholders, and funders.
  • Represent the organization in community forums and build strategic alliances that enhance program reach and impact.
  • Participate in and support activities that maintain strong public relations for Club programs, services, and initiatives.
  • Identify, establish, and engage in opportunities to promote the organization’s mission, programs, fundraising efforts, and community presence.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador for the organization.
