Chief of Staff to the CEO

Nubank•Palo Alto, CA

About The Position

The Chief of Staff to the CEO is the closest partner to Nubank’s Founder and CEO, David Vélez, and a force multiplier for his agenda. The role ensures that the CEO focuses on the most important matters, is prepared for key conversations, and follows through on commitments. It provides candid, apolitical counsel on developments across Nubank, using sound judgment to identify and escalate issues and maximize the CEO’s impact. The role requires discipline, rigor, and consistent follow-through. It also reduces coordination costs and pre-alignment across the organization, helping Nubank make decisions faster. This is an individual-contributor role reporting directly to the CEO. It involves access to confidential and sensitive information and requires strong judgment and discretion. The CEO’s office supports an agenda spanning external stakeholders—including investors, regulators, the Board of Directors, industry, and strategic partners—and internal priorities across markets, product, and technology. The role is based in the Bay Area, California, aligned with the CEO’s base, and is classified as IC9 on the individual-contributor track. Success is measured by the CEO’s focus on high-impact topics, the quality of Board and investor preparation, reliable follow-through, faster decisions with less pre-alignment, and the trust of the MTeam.
