About The Position

The Chief of Staff to the Chief Product Officer (CPO) role at Carta is a highly visible and collaborative position critical to the operation of the Product organization and the CPO's daily activities. This role involves driving clarity through noise in a period of immense change for the company and the industry. The Chief of Staff will be responsible for running the Product Organization's Rhythm of Business, executing on leadership direction, creating leverage on strategic projects, acting as a sounding board for the leadership team, and serving as the voice of the Product Organization across Carta. The position requires operating at the frontier, helping the organization move in sync, and acting as the main point of contact between Product, Design, Engineering, and Delivery (DRD) and the rest of the company.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Product, Business Operations, Strategy, or a Chief of Staff function, ideally in a high-growth tech company.
  • A track record of running complex cross-functional programs, not just tracking them.
  • Strong EQ and the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization, including executives.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and an instinct for identifying what matters before anyone else names it.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including crisp executive brief writing and sharp verbal feedback.
  • Ability to hold context across many workstreams and know when to push, when to pause, and when to escalate.
  • Presence and credibility in the room, even without formal authority (influence without authority).

Responsibilities

  • Drive operational activities for the Product organization, including setting and owning cadences and forums like R&D Reviews, Leadership meetings, and All Hands.
  • Own the underlying infrastructure for the Product organization, including resource planning and budgets.
  • Cascade decisions through the organization, help the team distinguish exceptions from the rule, and proactively surface information to the CPO.
  • Own the connective tissue on high-ambiguity, cross-functional projects, such as integration readouts for acquisitions, onboarding new teams, and supporting product rollouts.
  • Act as a sounding board for the leadership team, asking clarifying questions and facilitating difficult conversations to raise the quality bar.
  • Own the inputs and outputs connecting the Product organization to the rest of Carta, ensuring the product story is communicated internally.
  • Partner with PMM, Solutions Engineering, Sales, Finance, and other departments.
