About The Position

The Chief of Staff to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is a senior operator who oversees the operations of a 300+-person global marketing organization. You will design and own the operating system that enables MongoDB's marketing function to scale and move with speed, alignment, and discipline. You will represent the CMO across the org and resolve cross-functional friction without escalation. This role can be based out of our Austin, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco office or remotely in California, New York, and Texas.

Requirements

  • 8-12 years across top-tier management consulting and/or senior operating roles inside high-growth B2B SaaS companies
  • Proven experience as Chief of Staff, Head of Marketing/Business/Sales Operations, or senior strategy and operations leader at a $1B+ revenue technology company
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at the executive level, including experience in executive staff meetings and cross-functional forums, with the ability to navigate without authority
  • Exceptional written communicator with the ability to produce board-ready output with crisp narratives and translate complex strategy into simple messages
  • AI-native operator who uses AI fluently across drafting, synthesis, and analysis, thinking in agents and automation from day one
  • Strong systems thinker who sees how the pieces fit together and designs for scale
  • Low ego, high judgment, focused on moving the org forward by building collaborative relationships and managing through influence
  • High EQ, capable of reading the room, anticipating friction, and brokering alignment before issues escalate
  • Discretion at the executive level, operating as a trusted confidant of the CMO

Responsibilities

  • Design and run the operating cadence for the marketing organization, including Marketing Leadership Team meetings, QBRs, offsites, board prep, and executive readouts, ensuring milestones and key deliverables are met and decisions happen on schedule.
  • Build workback plans and manage risks for major moments, ensuring stakeholders and owners are aligned on what needs to happen and when, and surfacing risks early for course correction.
  • Operate as an extension of the CMO in key settings, attending leadership and cross-functional forums, providing direction, and making decisions with core goals in mind.
  • Broker alignment between marketing functions and between marketing and Sales, Product, Engineering, Customer, and Finance organizations.
  • Partner with DRIs on high-priority cross-functional projects, assisting them with defining and delivering the initiative.
  • Lead budget, headcount, and operating model governance in partnership with FP&A and People, tracking spend/investment against priorities and surfacing risks early.
  • Draft executive communications, including board materials, all-hands content, leadership updates, and strategic narratives.
  • Own the system that tracks Marketing-owned conversations, business performance, and decision points, conducting monthly trajectory reviews to ensure decisions are evidence-based and surfacing drift before it becomes a problem.
