About The Position

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a Chief of Service - Ambulatory Care to join the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem. Harlem Hospital is a major healthcare provider in Central Harlem and the only Safety Net Hospital in Northern Manhattan, recognized for its centers of excellence. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. The Chief of Service – Ambulatory Care will offer strategic, clinical, academic, and operational leadership for ambulatory services. This role involves leading clinical providers in Ambulatory Care, setting expectations for attendings, house staff, and mid-levels, and providing educational and academic leadership. The position also supports quality and performance improvement, managed care expansion, patient growth, risk management, and compliance. Collaboration with faculty CMO, Department Service Chiefs, Nursing, and Operational Leadership is essential. The Chief will participate in faculty recruitment, represent the facility on the NYC Health + Hospitals Ambulatory Care Leadership Council, and engage in facility leadership meetings. Key responsibilities include overseeing ambulatory-care performance metrics, supporting clinic-based research, and identifying/implementing operational improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, access, and patient experience.

Requirements

  • A license to practice Medicine in the State of New York.
  • Board certification in a Medical Specialty.
  • Minimum 10 years of clinical experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' administrative leadership experience, including medical director responsibilities and supervision of medical staff in a multi-disciplinary outpatient clinical setting.
  • Experience working in an acute-care setting, preferably.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing new operational processes and systems to improve efficiency and clinical performance.
  • Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic, clinical, academic, and operational leadership for ambulatory services.
  • Provide leadership to clinical providers in Ambulatory Care and set expectations for attendings, house staff, and mid-levels.
  • Provide educational and academic leadership.
  • Support quality and performance improvement activities, managed care expansion, patient growth, risk management, and compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with the faculty CMO, Department Service Chiefs, Nursing, and Operational Leadership.
  • Participate in the recruitment process of new faculty and Chiefs.
  • Represent the facility on the NYC Health + Hospitals Ambulatory Care Leadership Council.
  • Participate in Facility Leadership meetings such as the Service Line Meeting, PCMH, ACO, DSRIP, and Finance.
  • Oversee ambulatory-care performance metrics and outcomes.
  • Support clinic-based research and academic initiatives.
  • Identify and implement operational processes and systems designed to improve efficiency, quality, access, and patient experience.

Benefits

  • Annual Base Salary: $340,000 - $350,000 based on 40-hour work week.
  • Annual total value of compensation package is estimated at $414,000 - $425,000, which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, and other factors.
