About The Position

Vibra Healthcare is seeking a Chief Nursing Officer to join our team at the Rehabilitation and Critical Care Hospital of the Black Hills, located in Rapid City, South Dakota. This hospital is equipped with 36 inpatient medical rehabilitation beds and 18 long-term acute care beds. It uniquely combines two levels of care under one roof, offering comprehensive solutions for patients with debilitating injuries, illnesses, surgeries, and chronic medical conditions. The hospital is dedicated to delivering advanced treatments and compassionate care to help patients recover and regain independence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required.
  • Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Nursing or related field required.
  • Five (5) years experience in a Nursing Management position supervising the delivery of patient care required.
  • Current, valid, and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment required.
  • Current BLS certification from a Vibra-approved vendor required.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required where work is provided in multiple sites.
  • Ability to project a professional image.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.
  • Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in LTAC preferred.
  • Current ACLS certification from a Vibra-approved vendor preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directing and facilitating the activities of nursing and clinical services.
  • Assuming an active leadership role in the hospital’s decision-making structure and process.
  • Ensuring and facilitating the competence of the clinical staff.
  • Facilitating and ensuring appropriate staffing for patient care.
  • Clinical program development.
  • Developing hospital-wide systems, policies, and procedures for assessing, evaluating, and meeting patient's nursing care needs.
  • Overall responsibility and accountability for the development of staffing plans and departmental budgets.
  • Planning for the appropriate utilization of resources.
  • Maintaining or improving the work environment.
  • Monitoring and improving the quality and appropriateness of care.
  • Assuring appropriate staff for patient acuity.
  • Working closely with Physicians to address patient care needs and enhance patient care systems.
  • Promoting the facility through active involvement and participation in external and internal activities concerning health care services.
  • Directly supervising nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs/LVNs, CNAs, Nursing Supervisors/Charge Nurses, Unit Secretaries, and Telemetry Monitor Technicians.
  • Indirectly supervising designated clinical departments, which may include therapies (including RT), dietary, radiology, laboratory services, employee health, infection control, and staff development.
