The Chief Neurodiagnostic Technologist oversees the technical operation of clinical services provided by the department. This role coordinates the clinical activities of Neurodiagnostic Technologists in all patient care areas, performs routine and complex EEGs, and reviews the quality of work and competencies of technologists and student interns. The Chief Technologist also performs long-term monitoring studies, extracts patient information, adopts methods and instrumentation for optimal results, and performs/oversees technologist pruning and archiving. They coordinate staffing schedules, assign priorities, ensure equipment electrical safety and maintenance, and implement troubleshooting strategies. This position works closely with information services/technology, maintains policy and procedures, assists with clerical activities, and develops technical education. They maintain relationships with referring physicians, participate in staff recruitment and evaluation, manage supply inventory, and order supplies. The role requires knowledge of personal computer software, planning and implementing training programs, conducting team meetings, and ensuring proper use and storage of hazardous materials and infection control practices. Participation in a call schedule/weekend rotations is also required.
