This role oversees the technical operation of clinical services provided by the Neurodiagnostic department. The Chief Neurodiagnostic Technologist coordinates clinical activities, performs routine and complex EEGs, and reviews the quality of work and competencies of technologists and student interns. Responsibilities include performing long-term monitoring studies, extracting patient information, and managing technologist pruning and archiving. This position also coordinates staffing schedules, assigns priorities, ensures equipment electrical safety, and performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs. Collaboration with information services/technology for equipment maintenance and updates is key. The role involves maintaining policy and procedure manuals, assisting with clerical activities, and developing technical education for staff. Maintaining relationships with referring physicians, participating in staff recruitment and evaluation, managing supply inventory, and ordering supplies are also part of the duties. The Chief Technologist must demonstrate knowledge of PC software, plan and implement orientation and training programs, and lead team meetings. Ensuring proper use and storage of hazardous materials and adherence to infection control practices are critical. Participation in call schedules and weekend rotations is required.
