About The Position

The Chief Medical Officer serves as the hospital's senior physician executive, partnering with executive and physician leaders to drive clinical excellence, quality, patient safety, physician engagement, and strategic growth across one of the region's most advanced healthcare organizations. Ascension Via Christi St. Francis is a 400-bed tertiary care hospital and the flagship hospital of Ascension Via Christi in Kansas. Serving as a regional referral center for complex care, the hospital offers nationally recognized cardiovascular services, a Level I Trauma Center, Regional Burn Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, comprehensive cancer care, women's services, neurosciences, and a broad range of surgical specialties.

Requirements

Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Kansas Board of Healing Arts.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Optometry (OD) or Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) required.

Responsibilities

Provide the overall clinical vision for the organization and oversee clinical activities and quality across the organization.
Lead and implement the clinical direction for the organization.
Oversee the monitoring, measurement and quality improvement of clinical care.
Collaborate, develop, and lead the implementation of operational plans.
Develop and implement strategic goals related to the quality improvement and management programs.
Responsible for physician and provider engagement and alignment
Leads the medical staff office and medical affairs for the hospital
Responsible for patient safety and a safe, highly reliable culture among physicians and all caregivers
