About The Position

The Chief Medical Officer at Falmouth Hospital provides medical staff oversight by coordinating Medical Staff peer review, Process Improvement, and Risk Management activities. This role serves as a liaison with the hospital's Process Improvement Director and Risk Manager, and coordinates administrative support for clinical chiefs and departments for Process Improvement activities. The Chief Medical Officer interprets Joint Commission, DPH, and Board of Registration Process Improvement requirements, and supports the Chief of Staff and other medical leadership in the governance and management of the medical staff. This position acts as a liaison between the medical staff and hospital administration, and serves as an ex-officio member of all medical staff committees except the Nominating Committee. The role regularly attends key committee meetings including Medical Executive, Credentials, Utilization Management, Ethics, and Medical Staff Quality Committee meetings. Additionally, the Chief Medical Officer is a member of the Physician/Patient Complaint Review Committee, the Patient Care Assessment Committee, and the hospital Quality Committee. This role participates as a hospital representative in community activities and oversees hospital recruitment activities by coordinating joint recruiting efforts of the hospital and medical staff members. Responsibilities include participating in developing recruitment plans with CPG’s, MEC’s, and hospital administration, and is responsible for medical staff credentialing activities to ensure process efficiency and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Chief Medical Officer provides program support to the Hospitalist Service, Infectious Disease Clinical Specialist, and Emergency Department, and oversees the Medical Staff Continuing Medical Education program, including the Medical Library. This role participates in long-range and strategic planning for the medical staff and Trustees, and performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine
  • Certification by any Board of Specialty recognized by the American Medical Association.
  • Eligible for membership on FH Medical Staff.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience in dealing with interactions of physicians and other health care professionals in the health care system.
