The Chief Medical Officer provides medical staff oversight by coordinating Medical Staff peer review, PI and RM activities. This role serves as a liaison with the hospital PI Director and Risk Manager, and coordinates administrative support for clinical chiefs and departments for PI activities. The CMO interprets Joint Commission, DPH, and Board of Registration PI requirements. This position supports the Chief of Staff and other medical leadership for governance and management of medical staff, and acts as a liaison between the medical staff and hospital administration. The CMO is an ex-officio member of all medical staff committees except the Nominating Committee and regularly attends key committee meetings such as Medical Executive, Credentials, Utilization Management, Ethics, and Medical Staff Quality Committee. The role also includes membership in the Physician/Patient Complaint Review Committee, the Patient Care Assessment Committee, and the hospital Quality Committee. Additionally, the CMO participates as a hospital representative in community activities, oversees hospital recruitment efforts, and is responsible for medical staff credentialing to ensure efficiency and regulatory compliance. Program support is provided to the Hospitalist Service, IDCS, and Emergency Department. The CMO oversees the Medical Staff Continuing Medical Education program and the Medical Library, and participates in long-range and strategic planning for the medical staff and Trustees. The position also performs other related duties as assigned and consistently provides service excellence in alignment with Falmouth Hospital’s CARES values.
