The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) serves as the primary liaison to the Medical Staff and is responsible for establishing processes and policies that ensure effective two-way communication between the Medical Staff and hospital administrators. The CMO facilitates Medical Staff activities, supports the initiatives of the President and Officers of the Medical Staff, and collaborates with Administration to develop and maintain physician contracts in alignment with Hospital policies and practices. This role actively supports initiatives to ensure compliance with Medical Staff bylaws, processes, and procedures, and assists the Medical Executive Committee (MEC) in overseeing physician adherence to bylaws and regulatory standards. Additionally, the CMO is involved in physician recruitment and retention, participating in the assessment of hospital physician needs and the recruitment process. They also assist in planning growth and revenue enhancement activities related to increased admissions and assess and act to improve physician satisfaction. The CMO coordinates all hospital education programs, including undergraduate, graduate (Family Medicine and Podiatry Residencies), and continuing medical education (CME). They provide supervision and oversight for staff supporting CME and the Medical Library, and create policies and guidelines for education and training for Medical and other NAH staff members. The CMO manages the Medical Staff Services Department, supervising staff to ensure compliance with Hospital Policy, conducting performance reviews, interviews, and managing staff for quality and productivity. This includes adhering to budget and providing oversight to department policy development and implementation.
