Chief Innovation Officer

Moonshot•Denton, TX

About The Position

Moonshot builds electrical distribution equipment for large AI datacenter deployments and is in a hypergrowth phase, moving into a purpose-built manufacturing campus near Dallas. The Chief Innovation Officer is the executive responsible for the company's technology direction, technology leadership team, and technology posture as seen by the board, customers, and auditors. This is an executive strategy and leadership role, not a head-of-IT, head-of-AI, or software development position. IT, cybersecurity, software and technology development, and applied AI functions are run by directors reporting to the CIO. The CIO sets multi-year technology strategy, participates in executive decisions on capital and growth, and develops the leaders responsible for day-to-day operations. The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and partners directly with the CEO, CFO, and executive team. The CIO also represents Moonshot's technology posture to the board, strategic customers, industry partners, auditors, insurers, and the broader market. Moonshot aims to become the most AI-advanced electrical equipment manufacturer in the world, applying AI both to the equipment it builds and to how it runs the company. The CIO will shape technology investments and organizational capabilities across physical AI infrastructure and applied AI, while building an operational and durable technology organization at the pace the business demands.

  • Coach directors as they develop from operators into executives and build succession depth across functions, including the CIO seat.
  • Own the company's technology risk posture as presented to the board, strategic customers, auditors, and insurers.
  • Set policy and oversight for cybersecurity posture, the IT controls framework, data governance, and AI governance, while holding directors accountable for execution.
  • Approve major technology investments and enterprise vendor relationships; establish frameworks for evaluating, contracting with, and exiting platforms.
  • Steward the technology budget across IT, AI, software, and technology development as a unified portfolio.
