About The Position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for safeguarding facility assets and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP. This role oversees compliance with financial policies, the effectiveness of internal controls, and overall financial governance. As a key member of the facility leadership team, the CFO partners with the CEO and A-Team to develop and execute strategic and financial plans, while maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies. Detroit Group DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital, Commerce Township, Michigan Located in Commerce, Michigan, a suburb 25 miles northwest of Detroit, DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital is one of eight hospitals/institutes composing the Detroit Medical Center . Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital is a full-service community teaching hospital with 158 licensed beds, including 6 pediatric beds in a partnership with Children’s Hospital of Michigan. The hospital is staffed by more than 420 physicians (288 active including 40 employed), 330 nurses, and 800 support staff ser v icing more t han 40,000 patients a nn ually . T he hospital annually has more than 9,500 admissions, and performs more than 2,500 inpatient and 5,000 outpatient surgeries. Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience.
  • Healthcare experience is required.
  • Strong background in financial operations, planning, reimbursement, and capital management.
  • Demonstrated success improving financial performance in complex environments.
  • Experience with managed care contracting and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights.
  • Collaborative leadership style with ability to influence across functions.
  • High integrity, sound judgment, and strong communication skills.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required (or Business degree with Accounting/Finance focus or a CPA).

Responsibilities

  • Safeguarding facility assets and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Overseeing compliance with financial policies, the effectiveness of internal controls, and overall financial governance.
  • Partnering with the CEO and A-Team to develop and execute strategic and financial plans.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies.
  • Leading financial strategy, planning, and performance management for the facility, including risk identification, mitigation, and communication of financial risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborating closely with corporate functions (e.g., Accounting, Audit, Legal, Treasury, IT) to ensure alignment and operational effectiveness.
  • Analyzing daily operating results to ensure that revenues, expenses, and labor are within budgeted objectives; advising department heads and administration of needed changes and improvements.
  • Driving productivity and length of stay (LOS) initiatives to optimize operational efficiency, resource utilization, and financial performance.
  • Developing and managing annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow plans (including rolling forecasts).
  • Providing accurate, timely financial reporting and analysis.
  • Maintaining strong internal controls, financial systems, and recordkeeping.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, GAAP, and company policies.
  • Promoting ethical financial practices and audit readiness.
  • Overseeing revenue cycle performance, including denials management, reimbursement, charge capture, and collections.
  • Partnering with stakeholders to improve financial and operational outcomes.
  • Evaluating capital projects and business opportunities, assessing financial impact and ROI.
  • Managing capital deployment in alignment with financial plans.
  • Partnering with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, growth opportunities, and financial planning.
  • Analyzing new business opportunities, including managed care contracts and program expansion.
  • Delivering consistent financial performance, maintaining strong controls, and adapting to market dynamics.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to the CEO, contributing to growth, cost management, and long-term strategy.
