About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking a Chief Family and Community Engagement Officer (CFCEO) to lead the work of engaging schools, families, and the community to foster a passion for learning. This role is crucial in coordinating the District's strategic plan and ensuring its consistent implementation. The CFCEO will provide leadership in communicating system priorities, overseeing collaborative work processes, and managing systemic cross-functional strategic projects. Serving as an advisor to the Superintendent, the CFCEO will substantially assist in supporting student achievement through family and community engagement, achieving district goals, maximizing efficiencies, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and policies. The position also directs all external partnering efforts, including relationship development and timely responses to emerging issues.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in educational administration, supervision, or other applicable degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and educational leadership, including experience as a building leader and district leader in a public-school setting.
  • New York State School District Leader Certificate (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA), reciprocity given to candidates from other states.
  • Broad knowledge of modern research-based instructional techniques and teaching methods.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements strategies and initiatives to enhance family and community involvement in student learning and District programming, aligned with the Strategic Plan and Superintendent's priorities.
  • Leads personnel and offices related to family and community engagement, setting priorities and measurable goals.
  • Serves as a liaison between the District, school buildings, families, and the Syracuse community to promote a culture of learning.
  • Collaborates with the Superintendent and Executive Leadership Team in strategic planning and policy development, making recommendations and providing administrative oversight.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of and compliance with Board policy.
  • Advises the Superintendent and District administrators on regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Serves on committees, task forces, and ad hoc groups as necessary.
  • Develops and enhances strategies for effective communication within and between District divisions and community partners.
  • Directs the preparation and maintenance of detailed records of department functions and activities, including narrative and statistical reports.
  • Attends or participates in required District, Board, and committee meetings, representing the Superintendent as directed.
  • Performs all other duties and special projects assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
  • Provides oversight and support for assigned Offices and Departments.
