About The Position

The general purpose of the Chief Engineer is managing the Hotel Engineering Department, including all related activities such as hiring and maintaining an effective workforce appropriate for an upscale hotel, establishing and maintaining preventative maintenance programs for all equipment, systems, guestrooms and public areas/general maintenance. This role also involves participating in effective safety programs, coordinating and implementing capital improvement projects, and establishing, maintaining, and managing the department budget. The Chief Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the Engineering Department, including maintaining all facilities, equipment, furniture, fixtures, and systems at the highest quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • HVAC licensure
  • Universal CFC Certification
  • English Speaking is Pre-Intermediate
  • At least 3 years in Engineering/Facilities maintenance field
  • Leadership Personality
  • Hotel Working Experiences
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, push, pull, and carry objects, and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Hotel Engineering Department and all related activities.
  • Hire and maintain an effective work force.
  • Establish and maintain preventative maintenance programs for all equipment, systems, guestrooms, and public areas/general maintenance.
  • Participate in effective safety programs.
  • Coordinate and implement capital improvement projects.
  • Establish, maintain, and manage the department budget.
  • Maintain all facilities, equipment, furniture, fixtures, and systems at the highest quality standards.
  • Provide support to the Area Director of Engineer.
  • Manage adequate inventory of parts, supplies, tools, and material for the department.
  • Enforce Hotel Company policies and procedures.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as fire alarms and other life-safety situations, and notify the proper authorities.
  • Maintain the Hotel facility and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times.
  • Perform repairs in the aspects of plumbing, heating, HVAC, and guest room maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively to all departments regarding engineering tasks.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the engineering team.
  • Understand and operate certain central plant equipment.
  • Handle all mechanic areas.
  • Provide preventative maintenance on mechanical related heat pumps, motors, and fans.
  • Support all department concerns.
  • Address guest issues related to engineering promptly and efficiently.
  • Empower staff to maintain high service standards and respond effectively to service requests or emergencies.
