About The Position

The Chief Engineer assists the Director in overseeing the safety and functionality of the Hilton San Jose property. The role helps direct facility operations, including buildings, grounds, mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC, and life safety systems, in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. It also oversees maintenance work, supports capital projects and property rehabilitations, coordinates regulatory inspections and permits, and helps develop and retain a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in directing the functionality, safety, and regulatory compliance of buildings, mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC, life safety systems, and grounds.
• Conduct facility inspections and supervise construction, installation, maintenance, and repairs of electrical, mechanical, and architectural systems.
• Assist in directing capital projects and property rehabilitations, including scheduling, budgeting, contractor bidding, and licensing and permitting, while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Ensure routine maintenance and repairs are assigned, verified, and documented in the property maintenance management system.
• Communicate with government officials to maintain permits, coordinate inspections, and uphold safety and code standards.
• Drive team engagement and retention through performance management, professional development, and recognition programs.
