About The Position

The Assistant to the Chief Engineer supports the safe, reliable operation and maintenance of the property’s mechanical systems, equipment, and common areas. The role includes routine inspections, preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and general upkeep to help keep shared spaces clean, sanitary, and visually appealing. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and pays up to $28 depending on experience. Applicants should live within 30 minutes of the Brickell area.

Requirements

Plumbing knowledge is a must.

Responsibilities

Routinely inspect floors, the roof, mechanical rooms, and common areas; identify lighting outages, maintenance needs, and unsafe conditions, and promptly report findings.
Monitor building equipment several times each day and across shifts, recording the date, time, operating temperature, and observed condition during each inspection.
Complete assigned preventive-maintenance tasks and daily work orders accurately and on schedule.
Perform minor repairs and replacements in carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical systems, painting, flooring, and other building areas when permits or licensed contractors are not required.
Inspect painted surfaces, complete touch-ups as needed, and advise management of areas requiring broader painting work.
Maintain assigned tools and equipment in safe, serviceable condition.
Move materials and perform general labor as directed, using proper lifting methods and required safety procedures.
Maintain productive working relationships with building staff, residents, vendors, and supervisors.
Complete required logs, forms, and work-order documentation.
Respond promptly to property emergencies, including during scheduled time off when on call.
