The County of Monterey is seeking a public finance leader to serve as Chief Deputy Treasurer-Tax Collector (CDTTC). This executive-level role is responsible for leading major operational functions within the Tax Division and ensuring the effective collection, management, and safeguarding of public funds. The CDTTC plays a central role in driving operational performance, regulatory compliance, and service delivery across multiple revenue programs that support essential County services. This position oversees programs responsible for administering and collecting secured and unsecured property taxes, transient occupancy tax (TOT), and cannabis business tax; executing enforcement actions including seizure and sale of tax-defaulted property; and ensuring compliance with complex statutory frameworks. The role requires close coordination with the Assessor, Auditor, Cannabis Program, and other agencies, while influencing policy development and legislative strategy. The Eligible List established by this recruitment process may be used to fill current and future vacancies on a regular full-time, part-time, or temporary basis.
