This position holds the highest level of administrative and/or management authority, excluding that of the District Attorney. The incumbent may prosecute high-profile or significant cases and can act on behalf of the District Attorney in their absence or as directed. The primary role is management, but the incumbent may also handle criminal cases at all levels, mentor lower-level attorneys, represent the District Attorney at official functions and before legislative bodies, interact with the media and community on case or policy matters, ensure employee compliance with District Attorney policies, advise the District Attorney on employment issues, work with law enforcement at crime scenes, perform non-prosecution duties like community outreach, participate on assigned boards and task forces, provide training to law enforcement agencies, and perform other related duties.
