About The Position

The Chief Communications Officer serves as the organization's senior communications advisor and oversees the Organization's internal and external communications to position and market Men's Health Foundation and its affiliated entities (MHF Pharmacy, SoCal Club, Mills Clinical Research, and SoCal MMG). The position is responsible for developing and implementing integrated communications, marketing, branding, digital engagement, and reputation management strategies that advance the organization's mission, strategic priorities, and growth objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, branding, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience managing teams and organizational resources.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Proven experience within the marketing and communications field.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing efficient strategies and business plans for all marketing and communications aspects.
  • Solid understanding of market research and data analysis methods.
  • Ability to apply marketing techniques over digital and traditional channels.
  • Understanding of different business disciplines and ability to work cross-functionally in order to drive consensus amongst leadership.
  • Ability to lead with both creative and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in addition to outstanding leadership skills, in addition to strong relationship-building capabilities.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project-management skills with the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workload and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience supervising staff, interns, and volunteers, including providing feedback and evaluating outcomes.
  • Experience working with gender and sexual minorities, and other culturally diverse populations.
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, physical, and a background check to include a 7-year criminal, 10-year SSN & employer history reference check.
  • Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination on the first day of work.

  • Attention to detail.
  • Must take yearly flu shot or wear flu mask during flu season for patient-facing positions and test for tuberculosis as required by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and implementing a Communications Strategy aligned to achieve the organization’s goals and positioning within the sector and the community.
  • Advising the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on strategic communications.
  • Overseeing the organization's digital communications ecosystem, including website strategy, social media, search optimization, online reputation management, analytics, and digital advertising initiatives.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day management of external communications and the day-to-day management of the team and its resources.
  • Facilitating the organization’s Internal Communication by partnering with essential functions such as HR and the Executive Leadership.
  • Targeting the right audience within the community and working to shape the brand perception, brand position and awareness of Men’s Health Foundation and its services and programs.
  • Acting as an ambassador of the company culture and values by working to ensure the values are visible and consistent across external marketing and communications channels, as well as internally.
  • Analyzing and sharing with the organization the performance of the Communications and Marketing initiatives and utilizing performance data to optimize communications initiatives.
  • Creating and managing budgets for the Communications team and the implementation of the initiatives.
  • Coordinating with other departments to ensure consistent and relevant messaging.
  • Overseeing the creation and deployment of communications in Spanish when appropriate and necessary.
  • Partnering with external agencies and specialized consultants for strategic initiatives and emerging marketing disciplines while maintaining the day-to-day communications infrastructure through the internal team.
  • Serves as an advisor to the Community Engagement Committee and supports initiatives that strengthen the organization's visibility, community presence, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Overseeing media relations activities and supports organizational spokespersons in external communications opportunities.
  • Leading reputation management and crisis communications.
  • Leading and developing the Communications Team.
  • All other duties as assigned.
