About The Position

This role is responsible for owning and driving the Packet Core technical strategy, including the target architecture and a multi-year modernization roadmap. The Chief Architect will define the architectural evolution necessary for network slicing and AI-enabled services, focusing on the transition to distributed UPF and edge-ready deployments. This includes identifying technology gaps, establishing technical priorities, decision frameworks, and ensuring alignment among engineering, product, and business stakeholders. A key aspect of the role is accelerating the adoption of AI/ML and agentic AI for simplification and operational improvements such as automation, optimization, anomaly detection, and analytics-driven troubleshooting. The architect will also collaborate with broader network architecture efforts to ensure a cohesive end-to-end design across RAN, transport, edge, and data center domains, and address services like ISAC and physical AI. The position requires representing Packet Core architecture in senior technical forums, producing high-quality architecture artifacts, and clearly communicating trade-offs.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in telecom network architecture and Packet Core (EPC and/or 5G Core), including service-based architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to define strategy, create roadmaps, and drive alignment across multiple organizations.
  • Strong systems engineering and architecture skills (performance, resiliency, scalability, security, and operability).
  • Proven leadership in complex, cross-functional technical programs, and architecture decision-making at senior levels.
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML applications for network automation, optimization, and operational simplification.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the Packet Core technical strategy, including target architecture and a multi-year modernization roadmap.
  • Define architectural evolution required to enable network slicing and AI-enabled services, including the transition toward distributed UPF and edge-ready deployments.
