About The Position

As a Summer 2027 Chemistry R&D Intern in KLA’s ECI Technology division, you will work alongside experienced scientists and engineers in an industrial research environment. The division develops chemical metrology and process-control solutions that provide real-time chemical analysis and management for semiconductor and advanced-packaging manufacturing, helping customers monitor wet-process steps, stabilize processes, and prevent yield-limiting defects. The role focuses on R&D method development, chemical experiments using advanced analytical techniques, data analysis and modeling, and preparing reports that summarize experimental findings. The work supports technologies for chemical processes including damascene, wafer-level packaging, cleaning, and wet etching.

  • Currently pursuing a PhD or high-level Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in wet analytical chemistry.
  • Experience with spectroscopy techniques such as NIR, UV-VIS, Raman, ICP, or ICP-MS.
  • Experience with chromatography techniques such as HPLC, IC, or GC, including method development and method validation.
  • Experience with electrochemistry, including CVS (Cyclic Voltammetric Stripping) and ISE (ion selective electrode).
  • Experience with analytical chemistry techniques such as titration and pH measurement.
  • Experience with data analysis, including quantitative modeling, multivariate analysis, ANN, machine learning, chemometrics, PLS, or PCA.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new methods for R&D.
