About The Position

As a paper-grader, you will generate student scores and likely have access to other scores on websites or in spreadsheets. The faculty member will be able to tell you exactly how/where grades will be stored and assignments will be transferred to you, and back again. The faculty member will also be in charge of letting you know how to access answer keys, when available.

Requirements

  • Must have had and completed the class before being the paper grader.
  • Knowledge of the course material
  • Ability to recognize nontraditional as correct or incorrect problem solutions
  • Impartiality
  • Ability to keep accurate records
  • Good communication

Responsibilities

  • Follow grading guidelines.
  • Understand that there may be more than one viable way to solve a given problem.
  • Finish each job in a timely fashion (usually before the next class period unless a different plan has been made).
  • Ask for clarification when necessary.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with your faculty member supervisor.
  • Notify the course instructor as early as possible if you will be unavailable to complete one or more grading sessions and help determine if a substitute can be found.
  • Consult with your supervisor if you will have trouble maintaining an unbiased view of student work due to situations such as having close friends in the course for which you grade.
  • Immediately advise your supervisor if you are dating a student in the course for which you grade.
  • Do not begin a romantic relationship with a student in the course for which you grade.
