About The Position

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, College of Arts & Sciences, is seeking a Chemistry Laboratory Coordinator who will support day-to-day introductory and general teaching labs in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. The successful candidate will have strong organizational and time-management skills, be detail-oriented, and be educated & trained in general Chemistry skills. The candidate must be a self-starter and work well in a team environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience is required.
All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

Provide support to teaching assistants regarding supplies, equipment, experiments, and safety
Set up and maintain on-line learning management system
Coordinate scheduled laboratory experiments supporting fall and spring semesters, and summer sessions for CHE 1100 (Introductory Chemistry), 1101 (General Chemistry I), 1102 (General Chemistry II), 1146 (Introductory Bio-Organic Chemistry), and 1405 (Chemistry & Society), as required
Supervise the calculation and preparation of solutions and reagents
Maintain and inventory chemicals required for labs
Order chemicals and supplies as required
Supervise lab safety & cleanliness
Maintain and supervise use of shared-use equipment and instrumentation
In cooperation with Environmental Health & Safety, oversee the use and safe disposal of hazardous materials
Under the direction of Chemistry and Biochemistry faculty, develop and perfect new laboratory exercises
Assist in developing annual budget requests for equipment and supplies
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
Ability to comply with university policies
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
