About The Position

Spend three months working full time and on site at Capable Labs' San Francisco laboratory, making drug candidates alongside the company's chemists. The intern will contribute to peptide synthesis, purification, and characterization, with compounds prepared for biological testing. Internship dates can be adjusted to fit academic calendars and co-op terms.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or recently finished a degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
• Organic chemistry laboratory experience from coursework or research.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with peptide synthesis, HPLC, or LC-MS.

Responsibilities

• Run solid phase peptide synthesis workflows, including resin loading, coupling and deprotection cycles, and cleavage.
• Purify and characterize compounds using analytical HPLC, preparative HPLC, and LC-MS.
• Record compound identity, purity, yield, and analytical data to ensure each batch is traceable.
• Prepare samples for in vitro and in vivo testing and hand them off to the biology team.
• Help troubleshoot failed syntheses and instrument issues, and suggest workflow improvements.
• Support laboratory operations, including reagent inventory, solvent and waste handling, and instrument upkeep.
