About The Position

Support applications research to develop new products and applications to meet existing and emerging customer and market needs. This role involves completing tasks as directed, meeting experimental deadlines, and handling multiple projects simultaneously. The Chemist I will manage and maintain research instruments, restock supplies, and perform data collection to support existing projects. The position also supports research projects potentially including the development/characterization of boehmite (alumina) and their applications, Metalworking and lubricants, Agro Applications, Pulp and Paper applications, and Oil and Gas applications. Results are documented in an electronic lab notebook and research reports, with key findings presented in group meetings, departmental seminars, and industry associate meetings. The role involves interaction with managers, group members, and other research groups, and developing relationships within the R&D department and potentially outside.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Chemistry (preferred) or other physical science.

Responsibilities

  • Complete tasks as directed and meet experimental deadlines on laboratory experiments that contribute to technical development objectives.
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Manage and maintain a variety of research instruments within the laboratory.
  • Initiate restocking of supplies, maintain and repair of lab equipment; additional data collection to support existing projects or assignments.
  • Support research projects that address the technical objectives of the research group potentially including; development/characterization of boehmite(alumina) and their applications, Metalworking and lubricants, Agro Applications, Pulp and Paper applications, and Oil and Gas applications.
  • Document results in an electronic lab notebook, research reports and present key finding in group meetings, departmental seminars and industry associate meetings.
  • Interact with manager and group members, and routinely interact with other research groups in the local laboratory.
  • Develop and maintain relationships within research group, LC R&D department, and possibly with contacts outside the R&D department, depending upon the domain of the job.
