About The Position

Deibel Laboratories is hiring a full-time, entry-level Chemistry Technician at its Manhattan, Kansas location. The laboratory provides food and product safety testing services in chemistry and microbiology. The position performs chemical analysis and testing procedures, records results, and helps maintain supplies so testing can be completed on time. Training is provided. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Compensation starts at $19–$21 per hour, depending on knowledge and experience.

Requirements

• Interest in learning basic chemical analysis and testing procedures.
• Basic math skills.
• Physical dexterity to manipulate samples.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and repeatedly lift 10–15 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Basic knowledge of personal computers.
• Planning skills.
• Previous experience in manufacturing, production, warehousing, the food industry, food service, baking, as a barista, or retail.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively and develop good working relationships with employees.
• Professional workplace appearance, ethical conduct, honesty, and integrity in communications.
• Interest in seeking out and participating in appropriate training and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Learn and accurately perform chemical analysis and testing procedures.
• Obtain accurate testing results.
• Enter testing data and results using a computer.
• Plan and maintain supplies of analysis materials.
• Ensure analyses are completed within specified timeframes.
