Successful candidate is responsible for the plating area, chemical lab and the processing of hardware through this area. The work performed includes chemical conversion coating and plating to prevent corrosion or complete the mechanical properties designed into the parts.

Requirements

  • BS and at least 15 years of experience
  • Must understand the chemistry of the plating required.
  • Must understand the flow, temperature and proper design of anode and cathodes required to produce a well plated part.
  • Able to work with multiple Computer Aided Design CAD programs.
  • Normal working environment consists of pulling and lifting up to 35 lbs, respirator/ equipment required when exposed to chemicals, climbing up to six feet, standing approximately 95% and repetitive motion approximately 80 percent. Close visual work with numbers/ measurements approximately 80% exposure to dust and close tolerance work during machining 90%.

Responsibilities

  • Creating the operation sequence steps that will be used to electroplate both flight and non-flight hardware and for verifying the integrity of plating sequences by documenting the accuracy of the final product’s electroplating processes.
  • Following industry standards for electroplating processes and be able to utilize various plating inspection hardware and software tools.
  • Performing scheduled chemical analysis on various electroplating bath equipment and document the test results in the organization’s electronic database.
  • Giving an accurate quote on the plating process.
  • Studying specifications and drawings in order to perform plating.
  • Verifying conformance of work piece to specification prior to turning in work, using appropriate equipment.
  • Using hand tools to assemble parts when necessary.
  • Knowing how to safely dispose of used chemicals per OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Exercising shop safety and shop safety processes such as, grounding, use of gloves, safety glasses and safety shoes, and keeping work area clean.
