About The Position

The Chemical Hygiene Facilitator will work with administration and other employees to implement provisions of the Chemical Hygiene Plan. The job description is illustrative and not a complete itemization of all duties and responsibilities of the position.

Requirements

• Implementation of Chemical Hygiene Plan provisions
• Labeling and storing instructional laboratory/kitchen chemicals
• Coordination of instructional chemical product disposal
• Facilitation of personal protective equipment needs
• Facilitation of educator training
• Accompanying CHO with regular inspections
• Communication with CHO and Facilities Department for inspections and maintenance of safety equipment
• Review of Safety Data Sheets policies, practices, and access annually
• Prompt reporting of issues to the CHO

Responsibilities

• Assists with the development, implementation and review of a written district Chemical Hygiene Plan in collaboration with the Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO)
• Facilitate labeling and storing instructional laboratory/kitchen chemicals with teachers.
• Coordinate instructional chemical product disposal.
• Facilitate personal protective equipment needs per the Chemical Hygiene Plan.
• Facilitate educator training needs in collaboration with the CHO and assist in maintaining records of such training.
• Accompany CHO with regular inspections of instructional storerooms, classrooms, and laboratories.
• Communicate with the CHO and Facilities Department for periodic inspection and maintenance of records of inspection of classroom safety equipment, including, but not limited to, ventilation equipment, eye wash stations, safety showers, fire blankets, and chemical storage equipment etc. in instructional storerooms, classrooms, and laboratories.
• Review Safety Data Sheets policies, practices, and access annually.
• Report issues to the CHO promptly.
