Chef (Full Time)
About The Position
Chartwells K12 is hiring a full-time Chef at Pulaski County Special School District in Little Rock, Arkansas. The role directs, coordinates, and evaluates kitchen, food production, and food-service associates. The Chef prepares and serves high-quality food, maintains food-handling and sanitation standards, oversees kitchen staff, and supports inventory and menu operations. The position pays $18.00 per hour. The schedule is Monday through Friday, either 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Work may be unpaid during school breaks when food-service needs decline or cease; depending on business needs, year-round work may be required, potentially at a different location during breaks.
Requirements
- Prior culinary experience, such as food preparation, plating dishes, and kitchen operations, is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and participate in the work of cooks and other associates preparing, cooking, and serving food.
- Ensure food-handling, sanitation, and customer-service standards are met.
- Supervise hourly kitchen associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action.
- Prepare high-quality food according to standardized recipes and production, delivery, and service schedules.
- Serve meals or prepare them for delivery.
- Ensure proper presentation, food quality, portion control, and serving temperatures.
- Track food use, waste, and consumption to requisition or purchase products.
- Receive and inspect products and supplies for quality and quantity and maintain appropriate inventory.
- Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; thoroughly clean the workstation before leaving.
- Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to meet sanitation, safety, production, and merchandising requirements.
- Help select and develop recipes and menus.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
