About The Position

School Food Service Management Company is seeking a Chef/ Manager for a full-time, day-shift position serving K–12 schools. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays; occasional nights may be required for school board catering events. The role includes preparing and serving meals according to an established menu, managing food and supply inventory, operating meal-service systems, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and food safety, and helping ensure efficient daily kitchen operations. The position requires travel throughout the school district and the ability to obtain the documentation required to work in schools. K–12 school food service experience is strongly recommended.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of cooking experience.
• Proven cooking experience.
• Ability to obtain the proper documentation to work in schools.
• Familiarity with high-volume catering.
• Ability to travel throughout the school district.
• Basic computer and POS system skills.
• ServSafe® certificate is required in the job description; the qualifications also state certification is preferred or the willingness to obtain it.

Nice To Haves

• Previous supervisory or kitchen management experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve lunch according to the established menu.
• Prepare appropriate quantities of food and ensure meals are served on schedule.
• Maintain food temperature logs and complete required paperwork.
• Order, receive, organize, and maintain food and supply inventory.
• Operate the meal service/POS system as required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department standards.
• Communicate effectively with school administration and the management team.
• Provide a friendly, professional, and welcoming experience for students.
• Help ensure smooth and efficient daily kitchen operations.
