About The Position

A school food service management company is seeking a Chef/ Manager for a full-time, day-shift position serving a school district. The role involves preparing and serving lunch according to established menus, managing food and supply inventory, maintaining food safety records and kitchen sanitation, and supporting efficient daily kitchen operations. The position is Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays; occasional nights may be required for school board catering events. The employee must be able to travel throughout the school district.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of cooking experience.
• Proven cooking experience.
• Basic computer and POS system skills.
• Ability to obtain the proper documentation to work in schools.
• Ability to travel throughout the school district.
• Familiarity with high-volume catering.
• ServSafe® certificate is required; the qualifications section also notes certification or willingness to obtain it.

Nice To Haves

• K-12 school food service experience is strongly recommended/preferred.
• Quantity food preparation experience.
• Previous supervisory or kitchen management experience.
• ServSafe® certification, or willingness to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve lunch according to the established menu.
• Prepare appropriate quantities of food and ensure meals are served on schedule.
• Maintain food temperature logs and complete required paperwork.
• Order, receive, organize, and maintain food and supply inventory.
• Operate the meal service/POS system as required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department standards.
• Communicate effectively with school administration and the management team.
• Provide students with a friendly, professional, and welcoming experience.
• Help ensure smooth and efficient daily kitchen operations.
