About The Position

Vet et Nous is a multidisciplinary team composed of veterinarian both generalists and specialists operating at high rank whose mission is to take care of client’s pets as if they were our own. Our teams are split in 3 emergency and reference centres open 24/7 and several general practice hospitals and clinics in the greater Montreal, Laval, Montérégie, Laurentides, Lanaudière, Mauricie, Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean and Quebec region. The Hôpital vétérinaire Pierrefonds is a reputable hospital located in the city of Pierrefonds, in the west of the island of Montreal. We have developed a remarkable reputation among our clients and colleagues and have become a destination for clients seeking quality veterinary care. This is a permanent, full-time position with a variable schedule, including day and evening shifts, and one weekend out of two. In collaboration with the medical director, the team leader will manage the veterinarian team according to the company's values, ensuring that their team provides professional services to clients at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the team members (floor supervision, responding to questions/dissatisfactions in person or by email, etc.)
  • In collaboration with the HR manager, handle a significant part of the staffing process (workforce planning, interviews, hiring)
  • In collaboration with the HR manager, supervise the onboarding of new employees in their teams and ensure adequate training is provided
  • Monitor the work progress of new employees and conduct meetings to make necessary corrections
  • Plan and conduct performance appraisals for team members and during their probationary period
  • Manage absences and leaves, verify time sheets, and perform appropriate follow-ups
  • Coordinate team vacation schedules
  • In collaboration with the training coordinator, identify training needs and plan training to keep team members' skills up-to-date
  • Develop and modify protocols for the smooth operation of the team
  • In collaboration with the HR manager, ensure disciplinary/administrative measures are dispensed constructively
  • Develop action plans and hold meetings following needs assessments for the team and for various issues that may arise
  • Identify, train, and motivate key players in the team and manage succession planning
  • Plan, lead, and follow up on team meetings
  • Develop team member schedules
  • Perform other related tasks
