About The Position

Westborn Market is hiring a part-time Cheese Specialist to prepare and package cheeses and accompaniments and maintain a plentiful cheese selection for guests. The role includes cutting, weighing, and labeling products, building displays, assisting customers, and following food-safety practices. The position is non-exempt and reports to the Store Directors.

Westborn Market is a third-generation-owned and operated business founded in 1963, with four locations across Metro Detroit. It emphasizes quality goods, superior service, and strong relationships with customers and team members.

Requirements

• Proficient communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Follow basic safety precautions in a work environment with some exposure to hazards or physical risks.
• Handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds, and/or stand or walk for more than four hours per day.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a large variety of cheeses and accompanying products.
• Maintain and replenish the cheese section by cutting, packaging, weighing, and labeling products.
• Use cheese-related tools, such as cheese cutters and knives.
• Build displays using different products to highlight cheeses appropriately.
• Provide exceptional customer service when selling products, taking orders, and answering guest questions.
• Demonstrate products when instructed.
• Maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace and follow food-safety best practices.
• Follow Westborn Market’s time and attendance policy.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
