This role involves providing coaching, mentoring, and support to students involved in cheerleading. The sponsor is responsible for organizing, supervising, and coordinating all cheerleading activities, both during and outside of the normal contractual day. This includes assisting with arrangements for transportation, chaperones, security, and custodial help for various activities. The sponsor must ensure the care, cleaning, and securing of all school and District property, report accidents/injuries, and adhere to District policies. They will also serve as a liaison between faculty, administration, students, and the community, and assist in the development of cheerleading selection criteria. Planning and conducting tryouts, practices, and fundraising activities are key responsibilities, as is supervising cheerleaders at practices and events, emphasizing good sportsmanship, leadership, and academic success. Monitoring student eligibility and submitting season-end reports are also required. The sponsor must be able to administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed.
