About The Position

Performs professional level duties under minimal supervision to instruct students in accordance with state and district curricular standards and policies pertaining to education of students. The High School Cheerleading Coach is responsible for directing, supervising, and leading the cheerleading program, including practices, performances, and competitions. The coach will instill discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship while promoting school spirit and supporting athletic programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Minimum)
  • Current teaching position in Western Heights Public Schools
  • State Licensure or Certification

Responsibilities

  • Organize and conduct tryouts, practices, and cheerleading events.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive cheerleading program that includes skill development, choreography, conditioning, and safety.
  • Supervise student-athletes during all practices, games, competitions, and events.
  • Promote team unity, positive attitudes, and appropriate behavior among squad members.
  • Ensure all cheer activities comply with school, district, and state athletic association policies.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with athletes, parents, administrators, and staff.
  • Manage cheerleading uniforms, equipment, and finances responsibly.
  • Coordinate transportation, schedules, and supervision for away games and competitions.
  • Attend and participate in school pep rallies, assemblies, and community events as appropriate.
  • Support academic achievement and eligibility of student-athletes.
