About The Position

Carpenter Co. is seeking a motivated, safety-conscious Checker Loader to work in Short Block Loading Docks in Temple, Texas, on the first shift, starting at 7:00 a.m. The role involves safely operating a forklift to maximize truck space, load trailers efficiently according to customer requirements, and perform final quality checks on finished goods before shipment. Employees work to meet production goals while maintaining operational excellence.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to pass company certification.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting a basic tape measure.
• Basic computer skills and ability to navigate digital systems during day-to-day operations.
• Ability to work well independently.
• Strong ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Previous forklift experience.

Responsibilities

• Load trailers and trucks in the correct sequence according to customer requirements, loading tickets, and manifests.
• Record and track shipping data in computer and inventory control systems, verifying its accuracy.
• Follow safety procedures, including the Carpenter Company Safe Stacking Policy and rules for restricted or prohibited areas.
• Operate forklifts safely in tight, high-traffic environments, including driving in reverse and maneuvering around employees on foot.
• Inspect trailers for damage or disrepair before loading.
• Safely recharge forklift batteries and propane tanks.
• Maintain a neat, clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Perform final quality checks on finished goods before shipment.
