About The Position

The Charge Registered Nurse (PRN) on the Medical Surgical unit at Texas Health Plano is responsible for delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This includes assessing patients, planning care, intervening appropriately, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. The role also involves incorporating age-specific safety and infection control measures, initiating actions to meet patient information needs, and maintaining continuity of patient care between shifts, hospitals, and during transfers. The Med Surgical unit has 24 beds and focuses on improving the quality of care for med-surgical patients, including those recovering from surgeries or experiencing strokes with multiple comorbidities. The unit boasts a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and an engaged leadership team.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma, Associate's Degree in Nursing or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • 1 Year Experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting.
  • RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Upon Hire
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days

Nice To Haves

  • 2 Years Experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting.
