About The Position

The Spine Team Texas Medical Coder is responsible for insuring accurate and appropriate coding is maintained for all procedures and physicians. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Spine Team Texas. The Medical Coder reports directly to the Patient Financial Services Manager.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Coding Certificate required.
• Detail oriented and organizational skills.
• General knowledge of third party payors, collection laws and procedures.
• Experience posting payments and charges, and balancing the postings.
• Computer experience, typing and ability to operate calculator.
• Possess the ability to work productively, either independently or with other individuals.
• Proficient in communicating in the English language both written and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring superbills, orders, and operative reports are matched and coded correctly with the appropriate diagnosis codes and CPT codes.
• Communicating with the appropriate provider if there are questions regarding coding.
• Ensuring the appropriate diagnosis and CPT codes are coded and covered by the policies and guidelines of each payer (insurance carrier).
• Balancing all batches and charges to all the Provider’s schedules.
• Balancing all charges for the month to match the STT accounting department at the end of the month.
