The Charge Nurse - Renal Unit - Weekends role supports the operational accountability for the nursing unit during assigned shifts, focusing on patient flow, admissions, transfers, and discharges. This position involves coordinating and evaluating daily operations to ensure quality patient care, monitoring productivity, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The Charge Nurse also manages department supply inventories, reports defective equipment, and maintains awareness of available beds and isolation rooms. They monitor and adjust staff assignments for patient safety and efficiency, demonstrating leadership in clinical and operational responsibilities. This includes making patient acuity assessments, assigning patients, managing call-ins, assigning breaks, and facilitating coverage for meetings and educational programs. The role also involves monitoring observation patients, ensuring daily patient charges are captured, and completing daily discharge call-backs. Additionally, the Charge Nurse attends daily Bed-flow meetings and assigns PCA duties.
