About The Position

At PRESNow, our Charge Nurses are clinical leaders who help ensure exceptional patient care and smooth daily operations when patients need it most. Working in a unique environment that combines freestanding emergency and urgent care services, Charge Nurses blend hands-on patient care with leadership responsibilities, supporting and guiding the care team while coordinating patient flow and clinical priorities. Through strong clinical judgment, collaboration, and compassionate leadership, this role is essential to delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality patient experiences while upholding evidence-based nursing standards and fostering a culture of excellence.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
  • 1 year of nursing experience required
  • BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire
  • ACLS & PALS required

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of emergency department or 18 months of ICU experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and operational leadership during assigned shifts, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care in a fast-paced urgent care and emergency services environment.
  • Coordinate patient flow, staffing, and daily operations to support exceptional patient experiences and achievement of key performance goals.
  • Lead shift huddles, communicate operational priorities, and promote continuous improvement initiatives that enhance workflow, quality, and team performance.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff, fostering teamwork, accountability, and professional development.
  • Collaborate closely with providers, leadership, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care delivery.
  • Monitor patient volumes and department activity, proactively adjusting assignments and resources to optimize throughput and operational efficiency.
  • Support quality, safety, and regulatory compliance activities, including daily operational checks, medication security procedures, and emergency preparedness readiness.
  • Address patient concerns and follow-up needs promptly, helping to ensure a positive care experience and service recovery when needed.
  • Maintain clear communication with providers, staff, security personnel, and leadership to ensure operational awareness and effective decision-making.
  • Promote a culture of compassion, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement while modeling PRESNow's mission and values.
  • Assist with staff performance concerns and communicate operational or behavioral issues to leadership as appropriate.
  • Perform direct patient care duties as needed and other responsibilities as assigned.
