About The Position

WSP is seeking a Project Manager for Ministerial Authorizations and Environmental Management for a regular position. This role involves coordinating and executing environmental authorization requests in industrial or mining settings, leading diverse risk and environmental management projects, participating in environmental due diligence reviews for business transactions, conducting environmental compliance inspections and audits, leading client project meetings, and contributing to emergency response plans and technological risk analyses. The position also includes participating in simulation exercises, managing hazardous waste declarations and pollutant release inventories, ensuring deliverable quality and timelines, overseeing project financials and schedules, preparing service proposals, and writing/reviewing technical reports. The role also involves promoting environmental management services to new clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or other relevant field, Environmental Management, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of project management in industrial or mining settings.
  • Experience in preparing authorization requests with the MELCCFP.
  • Experience in the environmental and social impact assessment process.
  • Experience in writing scientific reports and environmental assessments.
  • Experience in conducting environmental inspections, audits, and risk analyses.
  • Experience in emissions declarations according to federal and provincial regulations (NPRI, IQEA, or others).
  • Good knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Proficiency in French (spoken and written).
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver's license and eligibility for a vehicle rental contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Environmental Auditor (VEA®) certification.
  • Knowledge of the "Towards Sustainable Mining" program by the Mining Association of Canada and auditor certification.
  • Experience in environmental due diligence reviews (acquisition or financing projects).
  • Autonomy, initiative, attention to detail, good analytical skills, ability to work in a team and in a dynamic environment.
  • Construction ASP - General Workplace Health and Safety attestation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute environmental authorization requests in industrial or mining settings.
  • Lead, coordinate, and execute diverse risk and environmental management projects in industrial or mining settings.
  • Participate in environmental due diligence reviews during the sale, purchase, or financing of companies.
  • Conduct environmental compliance inspections and audits.
  • Lead project meetings with clients.
  • Participate in the development of emergency response plans and/or technological risk analyses.
  • Participate in the execution of simulation exercises (tabletop and intervention exercises).
  • Execute and participate in projects for the declaration of residual hazardous materials and the national pollutant release inventory (NPRI).
  • Ensure deliverables are completed according to quality standards and within the planned deadlines.
  • Manage projects, including financial aspects, schedules, and client communication.
  • Lead and participate in the preparation of service proposals.
  • Write and/or verify technical and scientific reports.
  • Review and interpret engineering data and formulate recommendations.
  • Perform all other related tasks that may help in the completion of projects.
  • Meet new clients and promote our environmental management services.
