Chaplain (Part-Time) New Castle Indiana

Marketplace Chaplains•Indianapolis, IN
•Onsite

About The Position

Chaplains are frontline staff who fulfill MCHAP’s mission and Christian ministry by serving company employees and their immediate families. They act as messengers of faith, mission, and purpose, and interact with companies, employees, and community members in a manner reflecting personal and spiritual discipline. This part-time field position has generally consistent assigned hours from week to week, but does not guarantee minimum hours; hours depend on chaplain availability and client requirements. Chaplains regularly visit company worksites, usually weekly, to build relationships of trust and friendship with employees. They may visit employees and their immediate family members in hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, family residences, or other locations; provide confidential pastoral discussions; connect people with specialized assistance; and offer support during illness, bereavement, family challenges, financial stress, and other life issues. The role may also involve funeral support, jail visits, responding to deaths and serious injuries, post-termination care, facilitating employee-led spiritual enrichment activities, providing relevant literature and resources, and representing companies in ministry-related situations. Chaplains participate in new employee orientation to explain the Employee Care Service and Chaplain Team. With permission from the Executive Director of Operations, they may respond to other requests from company executive leadership that fall within the applicable Letter of Agreement. The work takes place in client-dependent field environments, which may include manufacturing sites, hospitals, office buildings, and funeral homes, with varying temperature, noise, and light exposure. Employment is subject to passing a pre-employment background check.
